Biological Samples and Data Protection

Will the Family Be Asked to Provide a Biological Sample?

Not in every case.

When genetic comparison is necessary as part of the identification process, the reason for requiring it and the applicable procedures will be explained before any sample is collected.

A DNA result alone does not necessarily constitute the entire search or identification process. Other information relating to the case may also need to be examined and compared.
